About
About The Artist
Born in the South Texas Bordertown Laredo, Leslie De Leon is a nationally and internationally selling, self-represented visual artist based in Texas. She received a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the University of Texas at Austin with a concentration in painting and drawing in May 2022. Her work explores both the beauty of the Borderlands region and the glory of the Great American West with influences of western, chicano, and cowboy/vaquero culture.
In 2021, De Leon traveled across Texas, New Mexico, Arizona, and California with her camera and a sketchbook in hand to gain inspiration, capturing the stunning landscape scenes along the almost 2,000 mile U.S.-Mexico frontier. This adventure became the beginning of a long-lasting body of work that aimed to capture the complex beauty of the Borderlands.
In 2023, she completed her first online collection of work, the Lotería Collection, inspired by the card game of the same name. Recreating traditional Lotería playing cards into original oil paintings, the series sold successfully across the country thanks to widespread support on social media. This series has become an ongoing staple of De Leon's portfolio.
In 2024, De Leon moved from South Texas to Colorado, where she worked and continued to travel to many U.S. National Parks, thus beginning her series of National Parks paintings. With a passionate love and respect for the places she visited, the artist pledged to donate a percentage of her work to park conservation efforts.
De Leon has been selling her work online as an independent artist since 2019 to collectors across the United States, as well as across the globe!
My Pledge
If you’ve seen my artwork before, I think my love and respect for nature is apparent. In my short life, I’ve had the privilege of visiting 20 of America's National Parks so far, and many more national forests, monuments, and historic sites.
I love this land that we share, and it is my hope that one day my children and grandchildren will get to see what I’ve seen. That is why I feel strongly that we have an obligation to protect our public lands in any way we can.
I pledge to donate a percentage of my art sales profits to organizations that work to preserve and conserve our public lands, such as the National Park Foundation and the National Park Conservation Association. It’s a small gesture that I feel is the least I can do to give back to the National Parks that have given so much to me!
